MUSE: Malga Fazzon Visitor Center (Val di Sole, Trento)

An imaginative, yet real, journey through the enchanting locales of Val di Sole.

A path composed of three multimedia exhibits, where the virtual dimension is defined by blending technique and content, form and thought as closely and coherently as possible.

Exhibit 1 – The innovative interactive 3D model of Val di Sole.
The snowy and molded surface of the model is bathed in light, becoming an electronic fabric, a digital environment in motion. The narrative is conducted on four different themes (Geography, Geology, Glaciers, Ecosystems) that visitors can activate simply by placing their fingers on the wooden board, thanks to the detection by special sensors. The combination of video footage, infographics, and 3D reconstructions allows visitors to discover the nature and charm of Val di Sole with an unprecedented emotional impact.

Exhibit 2 – Life in a Trunk.
Here, visitors embark on a virtual exploration of the stories ideally contained in each ring of a larch tree over six hundred years old. A wooden material, wrapped in an aura of sanctity, whose rings come alive again: touched by visitors, they tell the story of humans, the place, and events that occurred in the world during the larch’s existence.

Exhibit 3 – The Immersive Landscape.
On the back wall, a large panoramic projection opens a virtual window onto the entire Val di Sole: a time-lapse video of an entire day marks the action of the sun, wind, clouds, and with them the variations of the sounds of nature. These sounds, recorded live, completely surround the viewer thanks to multichannel stereophonic speakers placed in all corners of the space.

The intention is to lead the public along a line of content that revolves around the mountain and Val di Sole – which simultaneously becomes the content and container of the permanent exhibition – but then touches on grand themes that belong to humanity.

The path of the widespread exhibition is a journey in space and time towards the visitors’ awareness of their own identity in relation to nature and the future that lies ahead; this thanks to a conscious use of multimedia resources, serving the content conveyed, capable of communicating and moving.

The message intends to be scientific, educational, contextual, symbolic, emotional, connected to history, current events, and our future, hoping to initiate a virtuous cycle towards the knowledge and discovery, or rediscovery, of the important themes proposed.
