The Soul’s Rooms
Sacra di San Michele: Between Visions and Reality
Photographs have the gift of making suspended emotions visible, capturing them in the moments frozen in each frame. It’s a still time, revealing the full emotional density surrounding the Sacra di San Michele and the natural elements around it.
The exhibition setup, with an hourglass layout, is divided into four rooms that, following an introductory space, represent the three states of the Soul: awareness of the world, ecstatic desire, and the sense of the eternal.
In this final environment, with the help of technology, a dynamic triptych comes to life, making the constant flow of time evident to the visitor. Here, in fact, three large screens display the result of the author’s artistic experimentation: three videos, each made up of several thousand rapidly sequenced photographic shots.
The accompanying music has been specially composed by Manuel Torello for the hang and by Enrico Euron for the orchestra. Thus, a non-place scenario is created where, on completely black surfaces, the only presences are the images, whose subjects simultaneously become the content and the container of the exhibition.
