Collective storytelling for the peoples of the world

A metamedia installation on Tolerance and Peace

#TOLERANCE

#Tolerance is a collective, digital and multicultural work of art, true to the identity of contemporary knowledge: an innovative platform for collective storytelling. An experiment in combinatorial, transmedia writing on a global scale.

“A digital platform gives voice to the peoples of the world…”

Strongly championed by the Archdiocese of Milan and under the artistic direction of Paco Simone, this innovative platform for planetary storytelling on the theme of Peace and Tolerance was exhibited at the heart of the “Costantino – 313 AD” exhibition, produced in Milan at Palazzo Reale by the City of Milan and the publishing house Electa, in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and with the Special Superintendency for the archaeological heritage of Rome, the Aquileia Foundation, the Archdiocese of Milan and the University of Milan.

An interactive digital wall allowed every visitor to browse images and stories about Tolerance and Peace flowing in over the Internet in every language on the planet, and to create their own in real time. It is a unique collective storytelling experience, revolving around a fundamental value of Western Culture that lies at the heart of every democracy. A principle which, read on the level of individual religious freedom, belongs first and foremost to the Edict of Constantine.

«#TOLERANCE is a project addressed to everyone who wishes to take part in it, bringing the theme of the exhibition — that of tolerance, or of intolerance — into the present day», said Paolo Biscottini, Director of the Museo Diocesano and curator of the exhibition together with Gemma Sena Chiesa. «This metamedia installation gives meaning to the whole exhibition» — declared Gemma Sena Chiesa — «drawing the entire world into a discussion about one of the most important features of our Civilisation».

Connected live to Instagram and Twitter, this collective artistic video installation brought to light the small and great stories unfolding across the planet in real time around the exhibition’s central theme, told through contemporary expressions and interpretations.
