There is a moment, in the lives of many people with disabilities and their families, when finding the right personal assistant becomes the very condition of autonomy. Sostegninrete was created for that moment: a web platform that brings together the demand and supply of personal assistance, promoted by UILDM — the Italian Union for the Fight against Muscular Dystrophy — as part of the Match Point project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policies. Blu Oberon, engaged by Atlantis Company, developed the entire platform: architecture, back-end and front-end.
Accessible from the very first loginAccessibility here is not a chapter in the requirements: it is the project itself. Access is password-free, through a "magic link" that arrives by email: one button to press, no credentials to remember or protect — the most secure solution and, at the same time, the simplest for people with motor or sensory disabilities. The interface, compliant with the WCAG 2.1 guidelines, flows smoothly on desktop and smartphone alike.
The way it works is crystal clear. Personal assistants introduce themselves with a detailed profile and post their availability on the notice board; the certifications they upload are verified one by one by the administrators, and each validated profile receives the badge that attests to its reliability. Caregivers and beneficiaries search with tailored filters — location, availability calendar, specific skills — and choose with the help of the community's reviews. Contact then continues on everyday channels such as WhatsApp: by deliberate design choice the platform handles no health data, and confidentiality is protected by design, in full compliance with the GDPR.
Beneath the surface, a modern application: Next.js and TypeScript on serverless infrastructure, a non-relational database, transactional emails for logins and reminders, and a structure already prepared for multiple languages. Online since October 2025 at www.sostegninrete.it, Sostegninrete is technology that asks no attention for itself: it stays in its place, leaving all the room to the encounter between people.
